Revving up for motorbike fun in Sowerby Bridge

Families can join in with a classic motorcycle show in Sowerby Bridge on bank holiday Sunday.

The show is being organised for the first time by the town’s Rotary Club event is aimed at showcasing and celebrating pre-1980s motorbikes.

For the kids, there will be fun to be had from pig races, face painting and various other attractions.

The show, held at the Sowerby Bridge wharf and canal basin, by the Moorings pub, will be open from 10:30am-4pm and will also have refreshment stalls and entertainment for all.

Entry is £5 for adults, £2.50 for under 11’s and under 5’s are free.

Meanwhile there’s a great family day out on Saturday, May 24, at Todmorden Carnival.

The parade sets off from Sanworth Street, off Halifax Road, at 12.30pm, and an afternoon of entertainment continues at Centre Vale Park, Burnley Road, Todmorden, once the parade arrives there. The associated fun fair runs at the park from Thursday to Monday, with cheap rides on Thursday and Friday.

Running all weekend, from noon until closing time each day, on Friday May 23, Saturday May 24, Sunday May 25 and Monday May 26, West Yorkshire’s first co-operatively owned pub, the Fox and Goose, Heptonstall Road, Hebden Bridge, hosts its first beer festival.
