Rugby fans help raise cash for Air Ambulance

The miserable conditions postponed the landing of the iconic yellow flying ambulance at the club in Hipperholme.

However, it did not stop people turning out to raise money for the lifesaving helicopter.

James Ogden, from the Old Brods, said: “Unfortunately it was unsafe for the helicopter but the weather cleared in time for the match.

“We were very busy with the game and the international matches on the television.

“Lottie Shaw’s donated a raffle prize, and the raffle atfter the match raised £100.”

He also said that at a committee meeting they hoped to reorganise a day for the helicopter to come to the club next year when the weather improves.

The club is also looking to hold a summer ball in 2015.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance, which is the Old Brods’ official charity partner, has set an ambitious fundraising target of £9,990 and has raised more than £4,000 so far.

It costs £9,900 daily to keep the Air Ambulance operational.

The charity’s logo features on the club’s first team playing kit and on the boards around the main pitch.

The money raised so far was generated through a golf day, charity matches and the Great Glen Challenge.
