Ryburn wants to raise some dough and break a record

Pupils at the Sowerby Bridge school are hoping to burn up the record for the largest picture made out of toast, which currently stands at 174 m2. The school’s attempt, which will involve over 13 thousand slices of bread, is being supported by Hadfields Bakery.

Ryan Duffy, the teacher behind the grand scheme, said: “A record breaking attempt is a fantastic opportunity to bring a community together for a challenge. It’s something people will remember for a long time, and a great way to raise money for good causes. Director Daniel Birmingham said: “At Hadfields we get involved in a lots of charity events, so when we were approached to help we were delighted to help. It’s certainly one of our most unique and ambitious projects and there’s been plenty of challenges to overcome in managing the sheer quantities of bread needed. We’re really looking forward to the buzz of the record attempt and can’t wait to put that last slice in place.”
