Sally Wainwright shortlisted for best writer

Sally Wainwright who created the hugely popular Last Tango in Halifax has been shortlisted for best writer in the Broadcasting Press Guild (BPG) Awards.

She is up against Jane Campion (Top of the Lake); Chris Chibnall (Broadchurch) and Allan Cubitt (The Fall).

Sally, who was brought up in Calderdale, is looking forward to a third series of Last Tango which has gained fans at home and abroad. The show has already won the British Academy Television Award for Best Drama Series.

Oscar hopeful Chiwetel Ejiofor is in the running for his role in TV drama Dancing On The Edge in the BPG Awards.

Peter Mullen from Top of the Lake and Rory Kinnear of Channel 4’s Southcliffe are also up for that award on March 28.
