Search team rescues injured man stranded overnight after fall in Mixenden

A injured man was left stranded overnight after a serious fall in Mixenden on Wednesday.

The Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team were received an urgent call from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to Crag Lane at around lunchtime yesterday (Thursday), after a dog walker discovered the man and raised the alarm.

He had fallen from the crag top and ambulance paramedics treated him for a suspected ankle fracture, potential spinal injuries and hypothermia.

Rescue team members wrapped the man in a winter casualty bag and transported him by stretcher to the ambulance.

A rope system was used to support the stretcher carry due to the steep terrain.

Team members stood down at 13:46 and return to base.
