“Despite rain today, the turnout was AMAZING! We’ve put so much effort into the event, many amazing volunteers, and today was fantastic, but we need to keep everything safe with the high winds now forecast tomorrow. Hope to see you in Brighouse again soon.”

Steven Lord, of the Brighouse Business Initiative, said: “People turned out in force despite the weather. I was amazed at how many people were there.

“We have very reluctantly cancelled tomorrow, I am very disappointed as it has taken months of preparation and a lot of costs.

“I can’t praise the people of Brighouse enough, the weather was dreadful, but they came out and people said they had a great time.

“The stall holders, singers and everybody else all did their best in dreadful conditions.

“Despite the weather, it was still a fantastic event.”
