Motorists face severe traffic delays on the main route into Halifax after a water main burst on Godley Lane.
Drivers face heavy traffic and possible delays in both directions while Yorkshire Water carry out essential repairs near Shibden Park.
Temporary traffic lights are currently in place and work is expected to last until Friday.
A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: “Essential repair work to Godley Lane is currently being carried out due to a significant burst water pipe incident that occurred late on Sunday night.
“We would like to apologise for the traffic this has caused this morning and re-assure commuters that we are doing our best to fully re-open this busy stretch of road as soon as we can.
“In the meantime, temporary traffic lights are in place for safety reasons until the the road has been fully repaired.”
The 508, 548, 549, 681, 682 First West Yorkshire bus services are affected as a result.
