The Christmas Shoebox Appeal 2013 is set to receive its 2,000th donation for those in need this festive season.

The appeal has seen Rotary Clubs of Calderdale, Voluntary Action for Calderdale and the Halifax Courier team up to ask the people of Calderdale to fill shoeboxes.

Soo Nevison, Chief Officer at Voluntary Action Calderdale, said: “By the end of this week, more than 2,000 boxes will have passed through the hands of our dedicated volunteer ‘Uncle Tony’.

“Any charities that would still like to be considered for boxes can ring 348777 and we’ll see if we can help from the remaining stock.”
