Firefighters are urging people to have smoke alarms fitted after they were called to a home where an iron had been left on.
Crews went to the house on Holmes Terrace in Pellon, Halifax, at 9pm last night after the occupier came home and discovered the building filled with smoke.
The iron had been left on all day and had melted.
They said neighbours could have been alerted earlier if smoek alarms had been fitted.
