George and Mark’s friendship touched the hearts of people across Calderdale after they formed a bond when George popped into Mark’s shop one day.

“George passed away in February and we wanted to remember him. He loved The Piece Hall, so we created a coffee mug with his image on, set against the Piece Hall spire. We’ve sold 86 mugs, raising £602. George would be genuinely touched with our tribute. He was a lovely man and we’re pleased that his last Christmas was spent with us and our family,” said Mark.

The funds will support Age UK’s befriending service, where volunteers visit lonely older people in their homes.
