Spectators can now plan the perfect Tour de France experience with the news that Huddersfield and Holmfirth will both have official Grand Depart Spectator Hubs.

With free admission, the hubs will have a big screen providing coverage of the race, together with refreshments, entertainment and toilets. The hubs are the ideal place to relax in comfort and enjoy the spectacle of the biggest annual sporting event in the world.

The local Kirklees hubs will be located at St George’s Square, and at Sands Recreation Ground beside Holmfirth Swimming Pool.

Each will hold more than 10,000 fans, have a big screen in place and ready to show all the weekend’s sporting activity from 10am til 10pm on Saturday and Sunday; then transforming into free open air cinemas each evening.

The ever-popular food and drink festivals will also operate over the weekend, catering for the thousands of visitors expected to choose this area as their base.

In Holmfirth, the annual duck race is extended over the weekend and shares the site at the Hub, with ducks expected to turn the river a fitting yellow when they’re launched on Sunday evening.
