Spreading their wings with Wilko

School children from St Chad's Primary School have taken part in a national competition as part of campaign to raise awareness about wild birds.

Thirty children from the Hove Edge school have been tasked by retailer Wilko to design their dream bird box.

Aside from the winner receiving £500 for their school to fund a trip to a local bird sanctuary, the winning design will be produced as a one off for the school to use.

To get them started, some of the children and their teacher, headed to their local Wilko in Brighouse to pick up their entry packs, along with bird boxes and bird feed.

The retailer has partnered up with the RSPCA to develop a range to help the UK’s wild bird population thrive, and also encourage children to increase their common wild bird knowledge.

Earlier this year, research conducted by Wilko revealed a lack of awareness amongst school children about UK bird life.
