Stars of the screen brightened up children's ward

The children's ward at Calderdale Royal Hospital had a very special visit from well-known characters from the big screen.

Anthony Theabould, a cosplayer, joined with others from Halicon to bring Star Wars character and Spider-Man to children on the ward, as well as toys and colouring books.

He said: “I cosplay as Spider-Man and the Terminator for charities, comic conventions and children’s suprise birthday visits. I simply do it for fun, to see people smile and have pictures taken.”

Karen Foster, hospital play specialist, added: “It’s great to be able to do things like this for the children who are in hospital, to see their reactions, interact with the characters and see them laughing, it lets them forget about being in hospital for a short time. The characters were amazing, parents are grateful too, saying how good it is to be able to do this and think it’s wonderful.”
