Store plan for Queen Victoria

The application by Blackshaw Holdings Ltd will see the conversion of the Queen Victoria on Bradford Road.

Objections were submitted to Calderdale Council’s Planning Committee stating that the store will cause highway problems. Councillor Peter Caffrey (Con, Northowram and Shelf), echoed those views at the committee meeting saying that there is “an accident waiting to happen.”

Committee members also shared his views and the potential for vehicles to stop in front of the proposed store.

However, highway officers said that these issues had been looked into and a condition could be made to look at road safety problems and the installation of any structures to prevent them..
