A MAN has appeared in court accused of attacking a man in Sowerby Bridge last Friday night.

Daniel Duckworth, 35, of West Street, Sowerby Bridge, has been charged with section 18 wounding after Richard Reynolds was hurt on Wharf Street.

Duckworth is also accused of the common assault of another man.

He was released on conditional bail to appear at Bradford Crown Court on May 24.

The bail conditions are that he lives in Suffolk, adheres to a curfew and reports to a police station in Suffolk.

He must also not contact any of the witnesses and not enter Calderdale.

Mr Reynolds, who was taken to hospital with serious head injuries, is still in hospital recovering from serious head injuries.

His condition was yesterday described as critical but stable.

The 42-year-old works as a self-employed tree surgeon and is a former paratrooper.

A 30-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice in connection with Mr Reynolds’s attack has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
