Sun shone on crowds who welcomed Tour de Yorkshire riders through valley

The race began at the Piece Hall in Halifax, reaching Hebden at 12.35pm, where the cyclists were cheered on by roaring crowds, lined up all the way up the steep hill.

“It’s a good vibe. It’s good to see all the crowds and to feel the buzz of it,” said Max.

Alistair said, “It’s nice to see the Tour -the profile is getting higher and higher every year.”

Dad David reckons she could be a keen cyclist when she’s older. David said: “She’s got the legs for it!”

Billy Fletcher, general manager of The White Lion says Hebden thrives off community events.

Billy said: “The Tour de Yorkshire coming through has made people really excited.

"It’s a very positive vibe, everybody’s in good spirits and the sun’s out so it’s really good.”

The course went on to Haworth, Skipton and Otley before finishing in Leeds at 5.27pm. Belgian Olympic Champion Greg Van Avermaet was crowned the winner of this year's Tour De Yorkshire.
