PLANNING chiefs will consider a proposal to build a new pharmacy in Brighouse.
Church Lane Surgery wants to expand to form a ground-floor pharmacy – which would be opposite another pharmacy.
The proposal has attracted three letters of objection and a petition, which raise the issues of the pharmacy already sited over the road as well as parking problems on Church Lane.
Planning officers have recommeded the plans be approved and said: “The comments from objectors relating to the compromising of the existing pharmacy business opposite the site are personal opinions of a trade nature and are not planning considerations.”
The report also contained comments from Calderdale Council’s head of engineering services who stated that “while possibly undesireable, on balance it is considered that the reduction in car parking would not be on such a scale that refusal could be justified.”
