A Halifax sports club is swimming in success after celebrating receiving a £300 donation from the MARS Milk Play Fund.
Halifax Swimming Club was founded in 1864, making it one of the oldest clubs in the country.
But as the club, which is entirely run on volunteers, is training more and more swimmers and finding many older swimmers are continuing with the sport, they are finding that resources are often limited.
Jackie Warner, competition sectary, said: “An important part of our success has been an annual swim training camp abroad.
“wimmers train for five hours a day often clocking up more than 10,000 meters.
“We will use the funds to help subsidise the mounting costs of the trip.”
The MARS Milk Play Fund was set up to help individuals, clubs and groups to play more.
The fund runs until October 4 and has two £300 awards to donate each week.
There is also a £1,000 monthly award, where the public can vote for their favourite individual, club or team.
The fund is open to individuals, clubs and organisations based in the UK and Republic of Ireland only.
Applicants must be aged 18 years or over and only one application will be accepted per person, club or organisation.
And for tech fans, the fund is also giving away the very latest gadgets every week.
Applications to the fund can be made on the MARS Milk website, www.marsmilk.com.
