Keen horticulturalists will celebrate the humble spud at a special Potato Weekend.
Hosted by Kershaw’s Garden Centre, Brighouse, on Saturday, January 31, and Sunday, February 1, the event will feature information stalls giving advice about the different varieties of potatoes and how to plant them. There will also be fun potato activities for children from 10am until noon and from 2pm until 4pm.
Mark Yates, of Kershaw’s said: “We would like to invite every man, woman and child within our community to have a go at growing potatoes and take part in Kershaw’s annual potato growing challenge.
“This event is to encourage everyone to have a go at growing their own and is great fun for adults and children alike.”
The potato theme will continue into the summer, when Kershaw’s will hold a Yorkshire Day event on August 1 featuring a fun potato show to enable visitors to see how well entrants have done in the growing challenge.
Challenge packs are available from Kershaw’s. For more information, visit www.kershawgardencentre.co.uk or call Mark on 01484 713435.
