A SERVICE of thanksgiving will be held later this month for the work of Elland’s Overgate Hospice.
The event will be attended by Deputy Mayor of Calderdale and the Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire.
It is hoped families, patients and supporters will all attend Halifax Minster at 2.30pm on September 25.
Chief executive Janet Cawtheray said: “We hope lots of people come and join us in our thanksgiving and celebratory service.
“It is a great achievement that the hospice has been caring for people for 30 years and we wouldn’t have been able to do that without the fantastic support from the people in Calderdale who have given so generously over the years and continue to do so.”
The service will include a performance by the Overgate Choir, who are celebrating their 20th anniversary.
The choir have raised £190,000 for the charity during their two decades of songs.
Dr Simon Lindley said they will perform Look to the Day, written by John Rutter for Cancer Research UK.
“It’s a very beautiful song, really very lovely,” he said.
In his absence Alan Horsey and Gordon Normington will lead the choir during the performance.
“We look forward to the future and continuing to provide specialist palliative care for patients and their families. A big thank you to everyone – because you care we can – and have done so for 30 years,” said Mrs Cawtheray.
