TALENTED staff at a Halifax cake shop have made a stunning creation for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The colourful 24-kilo cake, admorned in red, white and blue icing, is the work of staff at 3 Tier, at Salterhebble.
Cath Cummings, cake decorating artist, took the lead and put in the majority of the estimated 60 hours’ work.
Shop owner Lorraine Tempest said she was very proud of the finished result.
“Cath’s very pleased and I’m exceptionally pleased.
“I don’t think she realises how talented she actually is.”
The cake features intricately painted horses and carriages as well as the Queen’s head on edible paper.
Mrs Tempest said the fruit cake – worth £895 – will now be doing the rounds at exhibitions and will be shown as a speciality cake in the shop window.
She said: “It’s quite a complicated cake.
“There’s a lot of handpainting and everything, except the jewels, is edible.”
It is also topped with a crown made of icing with a carefully added piece of red fabric.
The cake IS for sale, if someone wants to dig deep in their pocket.
Being a fruit cake, it has a shelf life of two years. But if it isn’t sold, eaten or auctioned for charity before then, the cake will be destroyed.
