Theft of rings alleged

A MAN has appeared in court accused of stealing two rings worth £1,100 from his ex-girlfriend’s mum.

Christopher Whittaker, 43, is charged with stealing Anne Sheehan’s wedding ring – a white gold band with a diamond – plus a white gold solitaire diamond ring.

It is alleged he took the jewellery from her home in Ramsden Wood, Todmorden.

The theft is said to have happend between April and May last year.

Whittaker, of Smithy Bridge Road, Littleborough, has entered no plea to the two counts.

He was bailed by Calderdale magistrates and will appear at Bradford Crown Court on June 13.
