OVER 2,000 suspected cannabis plants have been uncovered in Brighouse in one of the biggest seizures the area has ever seen.
Police visited a house on Mill Hill Lane in Hove Edge at 10.50am today and found approximately 1,500 suspected cannabis plants being grown.
The premises were unoccupied at the time.
After further inquiries at the scene, officers then went to two more addresses on the same street and found a further 1,000 suspected cannabis plants between the two houses.
Inspector Mohammed Nawaz from the Lower Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “This is a fantastic find and means that, if the plants are confirmed as cannabis, that we have stopped a substantial amount of the drug from reaching the streets.
“This was a sophisticated set up and we have now dismantled it.
“From my memory this is one of the largest seizures of suspected cannabis in the area covered by the Lower Valley neighbourhood policing team and is a substantial dent in the fight against the supply of illegal drugs.
“An important part of police work is intelligence passed on from the community and I would urge anyone who sees anything suspicious in their community to contact police.”
