It was not only fireworks that lit up the night sky over Calderdale last night.
Thunderstorms and lightning struck early evening along with heavy downpours which caused some surface water flooding but fire crews were not called to deal with any problems.
This picture was taken in the Upper Calder Valley and tweeted to the Courier.
Courier photographer Charles Round was also in the area and caught the night show on video.
Today, again a rather cold and windy start with scattered blustery showers and some sunny spells.
The showers and the wind should ease as the day goes on, with more in the way of sunshine following later.
Any remaining showers will die away to leave a cold, largely clear night with light winds.
