Time to celebrate our Calderdale communities

The Community Foundation for Calderdale (CFFC) is welcoming back its popular Community spirit awards for 2018.

The awards highlight excellence within the charitable sector, recognising and celebrating charities’ recent achievements and best practice, thus raising the profile of charity and voluntary activity in Calderdale.

Steve duncan Ceo of the Community Foundation said: “We know Calderdale is teeming with excellent charities, community groups, and volunteers, and we want them to be recognised and celebrated for the great work they do.

“So, if your charitable organisation is doing something great nominate your organisation, if you have been supported by a local charitable group nominate them, or if you have a volunteer

you just couldn’t live without let us know."

The awards ceremony will take place on September 27, at the Venue Bowers Mill.

Lucy Folds of the Venue said: "The Venue, Bowers mill are extremely proud to be the hosts of the 2018 Calderdale community spirit awards. Last year we had the pleasure of welcoming charity groups and individuals who are the backbone of our Calderdale community, and deserve a truly wonderful evening. We look forward to welcoming them all”.

All forms of charitable organisations can apply along with organisations without a charity number that are ‘not for profit’ and provide a community benefit. organisations can nominate

Nominations are open now across ten 10 award categories and can be made by visiting www.halifaxcommunityspiritawards.co.uk

The deadline for applications/nominations is Friday august 10 2018.

The categories are:

Charity Of The Year – Sponsored by Riley and Co

Awarded to a charity that has delivered outstanding service to its beneficiaries, promoted and raised its cause, been clear in its goals and strategy, and demonstrated excellence, especially within the last year.

Best New Charity -Sponsored by Latitude 7

Awarded to a charity (registered after September 2015) that has made a demonstrable impact since its foundation, achieved awareness of its cause, mission and activities, and set the foundations of excellent management and accountability for the future.

Outstanding Achievement Award Sponsored by Wilby

Awarded to a person who has demonstrated dedication, professionalism and integrity throughout their career, and who has produced a demonstrably positive effect on the sector through their work and management over at least a 15 year period.

Arts and Culture Sponsored by Croft Myl

Awarded to a charity active in the arts (visual arts-music-film-photography-writing-drama- dance-design) which has demonstrated passion and enthusiasm in making a significant contribution to the wider community.

Fundraising Campaign Sponsored by Value Exchange

Awarded to a campaigning team of a charity on the basis of innovative approaches coupled with exceeding funding targets.

Great And Green Sponsored by Pullman Steel

Awarded to an individual, school or charity which is having a positive impact on the community and/or raising the profile of environmental issues.

Young Community Champion Sponsored by Impact Multi Academy Trust & Halifax Academy

Awarded to a young person 21 years old or under, who have engaged, inspired and motivated their peers or other people in support of a social cause or initiative.

Breakthrough of The Year sponsored by Heights UK

Awarded to a charity for successfully developing something new or different. Areas could include supporter and/or donor engagement, putting a piece of research to good use, extending the reach of the charity or introducing a new way of working.

Volunteer of the year sponsored by Skircoat Green Directory

Awarded to the volunteer who has displayed the greatest commitment and achievement to a charity, voluntary sector organisation or the community.

Best Marketing Campaign sponsored by Wright Angle Marketing
