The first winner of FC Halifax Town’s Net-Buster lottery said he was stunned to have won the £5,000 prize.
Season-ticket holder Mick Jowett, who has supported the club since 1958, and his wife Jean were presented with a cheque by midfielder Matt Pearson before the Shaymen’s 2-0 win over Alfreton at the Shay.
“I was stunned. I got a phone call from Debbie Charlton at the club to say I’d won but I just said ‘oh yeah, sure’, because I wind people up like that all the time.
“But she rang back and said ‘no, I’m serious’.
“We’re going to use some of it to go to Corfu and visit friends out there.”
