A national conference being staged for the first time in Halifax began today.
Townstock, dubbed by organisers as “the first national event for people who want to get on and do something about their towns”, started a Dean Clough this morning.
Today the conference including workshops on bringing a national initiatives to a local level, clever ideas to keep money in your town and how to make town centres more resilient.
There was also a talk from Pam Warhurst, co-founder of Incredible Edible in Todmorden and Dan Thompson, author of “Pop-up shops for dummies”.
The second and final day of the conference tomorrow will see interviews with Terry Ryall, cheif executive of vInspired and David Scott, head of policy at Morrison Supermarkets plc, as well as mini-presentations by groups including Portas’ Pilots, Halifax Opportunities Trust and Totally Locally.
