Officers were called to the scene, near to the junction of Carr Lane, at around 11.26am last Thursday but it was believed the crash happened in the early hours of the morning.

A red Yamaha motorcycle and debris was located nearby and enquiries are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of what took place.

It is believed the motorcycle may have left the road and collided with a tree. Mr Chothia was last seen in Hebden Bridge around 1.30am on Wednesday August 10.

Sergeant Carl Quinn of the Major Collision Enquiry Team said: “This is a busy stretch of road and I would appeal to anyone that may have been travelling in and around the area who may have seen the motorcycle, or who has any information to come forward.

Road closures were in place between Station Road at Hebden Bridge and New Road at Mytholmroyd whilst officers conducted their investigation.

The route was reopened at around 4.40pm.

Officers continue to appeal for any information about Jacob’s movements after the time he was last seen, or anyone who has any information about the collision itself to come forward to the Major Collision Enquiry Team via 101 quoting 452 of August 11.
