A farmer and his dog were called by highway officers to help clear the M62 and the surrounding area of an obstruction today.
Highways England issued a picture at 1.50pm today warning about a possible closure of the motorway after sheep were found grazing on the side of the M62 by junction 22 to 23.
They said at the time that traffic officers were responding to some sheep on the motorway verge.
Just before 2.15pm Highways England tweeted "Traffic officers have stopped the traffic. Sheep Dog & Farmer deployed to collect the sheep - This is the motorway version of one man and his dog @BBCCountryfile we might opt to host you soon."
A short time later Highways England confrimed the matter had been resolved and said via Twitter: "Mission accomplished: J22 to J23 - The dog and farmer have done some amazing work. Sheep collected and returned to field. All traffic has been released. Thanks for your patience."
