Drivers are being warned about travel disruption and roadworks starting tomorrow (Friday) at one of the busiest junctions in Calderldale.
Yorkshire Water’s contractors will begin work on renewing a water main in Huddersfield Road in Salterhebble.
The team from Morrison Utility Services (MUS) will renew a section of water main in Huddersfield Road between the junctions with Jubilee Road and Wakefield Road and Stainland Road.
Calderdale Council’s Head of Highways, Steven Lee, said the work is taking place in stages and has been scheduled during school holidays to minimise disruption.
Traffic management and fully signed diversion routes will be place so the project can be carried out safely. Work will take place as follows;
On Thursday February 16 Jubilee Road will be closed to through traffic, at the Huddersfield Road junction, so a site compound and welfare facilities can be located there.
Vehicle access to Jubilee Road will be gained via Backhold Lane until Monday 27 February when work is complete.
On Friday February 17 MUS will start renewing the main in Huddersfield Road. A give and take traffic management system will be used for just over a week.
At 8pm on Friday February 24, Wakefield Road will be closed to vehicles from its junction with Stainland Road in the northerly direction (towards Halifax) and Stainland Road will be closed from its junction with Wakefield Road in the southerly direction (towards Huddersfield). These closures will remain in place until 5am on Monday February 27.
Yorkshire Water apologises for any traffic delays and advises motorists to consider a different route or allow extra time if they do need to travel to the area.
It’s unlikely that MUS or Yorkshire Water employees will need access to properties and residents and business owners are being asked to be on their guard against bogus callers while the team is working in the area.
