The Council confirmed that monitoring will continue tonight as there appears to have been some further movement.

Teams are looking into the extent of the road slippage and the repairs required.

Councillor Jane Scullion, Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Strategy, said: “If people need to make an essential journey which involves going on Elland Road in Brighouse, we’re asking them to be aware of possible delays and to plan accordingly.

“We apologise for any inconvenience. The temporary traffic lights are needed as teams are carrying out important investigation and monitoring work, and until we know the extent of the damage, they will protect road users. We will provide further updates once we know the full amount of damage and what repairs are required.”
