Cyclist hurt in crash with van

A cyclist was in hospital yesterday after he was knocked off his bike by a van in Wakefield Road, near the Brighouse M62 junction.

The cyclist, 39, from Wakefield, suffered a fractured leg and shoulder and was kept in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary after the accident, at 7.35pm on Wednesday.

Fire on the bus

Youths are believed to have set fire to the back seat of a bus.

Firefighters were called to Todmorden bus station after an elderly couple alerted the driver that they could smell smoke.

The top deck was badly smoke-logged but nobody was hurt in the incident.

Teen in court

A 17-year-old was at Bradford magistrates’ ourt charged with a public order offence on the day of the EDL demo in Halifax.

His previous youth referral order was extended by six months.
