Man thrown from car stolen in Elland still in critical condition

A 22-year-old man who was thrown from a car stolen in Elland during a five vehicle collision in Gomersal remains in a critical condition.

Police are appealing for witnesses who can help to piece together the circumstances of the incident that happened on Thursday October 9 near the junction with Moor Lane at around 2.10pm.

The 22-year-old, believed to be the driver, was thrown from the Mini as a result of the collision and was taken by ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary.

From initial enquiries, it is believed there was a second person in the Mini who has left the scene.

The Mini involved in the collision was reported stolen from an address in Elland on 3 October 3.

The accident also involved a silver Mini Roadster convertible, a grey Vauxhall Zafira, a blue Vauxhall Astra, a white Volkswagen van and a white Renault Kangoo van.

Sergeant Richard Lyon said: “We are keen to speak with anyone who has witnessed this collision of who has seen someone walking or running from the scene or acting suspiciously in the area. Anyone with information is asked to call the Western Safer Road and Neighbourhood Support Team on 101.”
