Motorists are facing disruption on several of Calderdale’s roads this morning following a fatal accident.

The Elland Bypass is closed due to the fatal incident at 1.15am.

The A629 Calderdale Way between Ainley Top and Elland is closed in both directions between Ainley Top roundabout and the Lowfields Business Park roundabout. Queues are building in the area and vehicles are being diverted through Elland town centre.

It is also affecting Huddersfield Road between the A629 Huddersfield Road and South Lane.

Elsewhere, the A641 Huddersfield Road in Brighouse is busy southbound at the Bethel Street junction but traffic is moving.

And there is also congestion on the A58 in Sowerby Bridge at the junction with Tuel Lane, and on Aachen Way at the junction with Queen’s Road, Halifax.

There are no reported problems on the trains but the 503 bus service is diverting via Dewsbury Road and New Hey Road from Elland.

Weatherwise, forecasters say it should be a cloudy but dry day, with a maximum temperature of 21C and a minimum of 15C.
