Motorway closed after eight-vehicle collision

A section of the M62 at Brighouse had to be closed for half an hour this afternoon (Sunday) following an eight-vehicle collision,

The incident, between Junctions 25 and 26 on the eastbound-carriagway, happened at around 2pm when a car skidded and hit the central reservation following a sudden downpour and rebounded into other vehicles.

Nobody suffered serious injuries, but one woman who was taken to hospital, reported pain in her neck, one man had pain in his wrist and three people were treated for shock.

The eastbound carriageway was closed for half an hour whilst police cleared the debris. The westbound section was unaffected.

Fire crews from Brighouse and Elland attended the scene.
