Overnight M62 closures during work to Scammonden Bridge - here's where traffic will divert
Overnight M62 closures will be taking this month to allow for upgrades to Scammonden Bridge.
Work began on the bridge back in April and an existing aluminium parapet is being replaced with a new steel parapet.
Closures will take place every weeknight (from 8pm to 6am) from July 20 to 24 and then on the nights of July 27, 28 and 29.

There are also set to be overnight closures from August 12 to 27.
During these closures, traffic will be diverted by:
- A672
- A58
- A646
- A629
Residents may experience increased overnight traffic and associated noise on local roads.
Further overnight closures are planned for Autumn 2026.
Scammonden Bridge carries the B6114 over the M62 between junctions 23 (Outlane) and 22 (Rockingstone Moss) in Calderdale.
At the start of the works National Highways shared: “Our upgrades are vital to the long term safety and integrity of this structure.
“We'll need to fully close the M62 in both directions between junctions 22 and 24 (Ainley Top) while we work.
“We have to close the road to protect both road users and our workforce.”
