A spokesperson for Highways England said: " The M62 westbound in West Yorkshire currently has long delays in excess of 75 mins between J24 Ainley Top Interchange (Huddersfield, Halifax A629) and J22 Risworth Moor Interchange (Saddleworth A672).

"This is due to 2 lanes (of 3) being closed between Junction 23 and Junction 22 due to a car fire.

"West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue as well as Highways England Traffic Officers are on scene working to clear the closed lanes.

"If travelling towards this area from further afield, you may wish to consider an alternative route, allow extra travel time and follow guidance from our on-road variable message signs."
