Police are appealing for witnesses after a 58-year-old man died on the M62 in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The incident is believed to have happened at around 2.45am in the skip road of Junction 25 of the westbound M62 at Brighouse.

The man, from Huddersfield, was driving his Renault Megane when it left the road and collided with a lamp post.

He was the only person in the vehicle at the time and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the car being driven in the time prior to the collision to come forward.

A spokesperson said: “In particular officers would like to hear from anyone who saw the vehicle travelling south on the M606 from Bradford towards the M62 or anyone on the M62 westbound between Bradford and Brighouse around 2.20am to 2.45am.”

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact PC Russ Windross in the Major Collision Enquiry Team via: 101.
