At Monday’s Cabinet meeting resident and Brighouse Road Safety Committee (BRSC) member, Pat Oates, expressed her fury at Brookfoot Lane not being scheduled for maintenancen in 2015/16.

She said: “The road is absolutely disgusting. I will keep coming here - the road should be on your list.”

At a previous Cabinet meeting Pat said heavy goods vehicles deployed by paving firm Marshalls have difficulty maintaining traction whilst ascending and descdending the lane - causing fears for public safety.

She said: “They [Marshalls], like us, are extremely concerned that sooner rather than later, there will be a serious accident.”

Councillor Peter Caffrey, responsible for Cabinet’s economy, told her the matter was a “contentious issue” and that Cabinet would look further into the point she raised.

One of the major schemes is Southowram where carriageway resurfacing on Law Lane/Bank Top and Cain Lane to Southowram Bank will cost around £450,000.
