Second major water main causes delays on Burnley Road in Calderdale

The second major water main burst in the space of three along Burnley Road in Calderdale is causing delays for motorists.

Calderdale Council confirmed that due to a water main burst by the cricket ground near Eastwood the section of Burnley Road was temporarily closed while they worked with Yorkshire Water to pump the water away.

The burst happened at about 1.30pm and resulted in the road being closed and buses being diverted.

However, temporary lights have now been put in place and the road re-opened.

Metro Travel News confirmed that the 590/592 will now go back to operating full route.

"The burst water main will be controlled by two way traffic lights. Expect delays and possible cancellations to services. Apologies for any inconvenience caused," said Metro

The incident comes two days after a water main burst on Burnley Road between Hebden Bridge and Todmorden.

The road was closed between Burnt Acres Lane to Jumble Hole Road just before lunchtime on Tuesday.
