Seven miles of traffic as M62 accident causes heavy delays
The Highways Agency has said there is approximately seven miles of very slow moving traffic.
The M62 eastbound in West Yorkshire was closed between junctions 24 and 25 due to a serious incident and the Agency has said the carriageway is not expected to re-open until approximately 8pm this evening.

Hide AdA diversion route is in place. Road users may follow the black ‘hollow’ triangle diversion sign, via the A629 southbound, then the A643 eastbound towards Brighouse.
Prior to reaching Brighouse, road users should join the A6107 eastbound, then the A644 northbound, to re-join the M62 at junction 25.
However, vehicles taller than 15’ 9” should not join the A6107 and instead continue on the A641 towards Brighouse.
There are long delays in this area and road users further afield may wish to consider alternative routes or to delay their journey until road conditions improve.

Hide AdSchool bus services are also being affected with Metro warning to expect delays to school services in the area as motorway traffic is being diverted.
First West Yorkshire has said the Halifax bus service 560/579 are operating upto 25 minutes late due to the accident on the M62 forcing traffic off at Rishworth Moor Junction causing traffic jams.
Halifax Service 503 is also operating up to 15 minutes late due to the accident which is causing delays at Ainley top roundabout.
