Speedster caught nearly double the legal limit on Calderdale road

Police teams in Calderdale have been carrying out speed checks throughout the borough.

A number of patrols have been deployed to after a number of complaints from members of our communities,

Here is rundown of the speed checks carried out and drivers breaking the legal limit

May 26 - A58 – Rochdale Road, Sowerby Bridge (Crow Wood Park Area) – Over 200 vehicle were checked between 10am and 11am. All vehicles travelling between 20-30mph.

Pye Nest Road, Sowerby Bridge – Over 80 vehicles were checked between 11am and 12pm. Driver dealt with for driving at 45mph in a 30mph zone.

May 31 – Dewsbury Road, Elland - where the speed limit is 30mph. A driver was dealt with for driving at 48mph.

June 1 – Oldham Road, Rishworth - Over 80 vehicles were checked and whilst the majority were adhering to the speed limit, Sizdrivers were dealt with for excessive speed, the highest being 47mph.

A58 – Rochdale Road, Sowerby Bridge – Over 40 vehicles were checked. Within 15minutes, three vehicles were captured driving at excessive speed, highest being 59mph in the 30mph zone. These drivers have been dealt with for this offence.
