UPDATE: M62 fully re-opened after serious accident

The M62 at Brighouse has now fully re-opened after police were forced to close a section of the motorway last night (Friday) after a seriouus crash involving a car and a HGV.

The collision happened on the eastbound carriageway between junction 25, A644 (Brighouse) and junction 26, M606 (Chain Bar) at 4.15pm.

The female driver of the car suffered a serious leg injury which was not thought to be life-threatening.

Both sides of the motorway were closed between junctions 25 and 26 to allow the Yorkshire Air Ambulance to land,

The incident caused major tailbacks for commuters.

Fire engines and ambulances were also in attendance.
