Update: Pensioner killed in M62 smash

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which occurred between Junction 24 Ainley Top and Junction 25 Brighouse on the eastbound section just after noon.

Officers are currently investigating the full circumstances of the incident and enquiries remain ongoing.

The section of the motorway has now reopened after being closed for several hours.

Any witnesses to the incident or anyone with any information should contact the Major Collision and Enquiry Team on the non emergency number 101.

Crews from Brighouse and Elland fire stations attended along with the air ambulance and other emergency teams.

Brighouse Watch Commander Alex MacFarlane said at least four vehicles were involved.

“The spread of vehicles covered 150 metres,” he said.
