UPDATED: All lanes re-opened on M62 following accident

The M62 has re-opened after an accident between a heavy goods vehicle and a tanker closed it earlier today (Friday).

One of the drivers was been seriously injured during the incident which happened at 12.40pm on the eastbound carriageway.

The westbound carriageway was closed temporarily between junctions 26, Chain Bar, and junction 27 Gildersome, to allow the air ambulance to land.

Congestion is reported in both directions between junction 27 (Gildresome) to junction 26 (Chain Bar).

Lane one of the eastbound carriageway will remain closed into this evening for specialist recovery of the tanker unit to take place.
