A MOTORCYCLIST is in hospital after a crash in Halifax that caused long delays yesterday afternoon.

Police had to close New Bank for three hours after the accident, causing severe delays to rush-hour traffic.

The crash involved a motorcycle and a blue Vauxhall Zafira and was reported at 2.50pm.

The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where his condition was this morning described as stable.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, particularly anyone in the cars that were queuing in the inside lane of New Bank, headed from Halifax town centre towards Godley.

Anyone who can help should call the Western Area Roads Policing Team via 101.
