VIDEO: Man, 82, remains in hospital after car flips on its roof in Todmorden

The man was travelling on Burnley Road at around 11.56am on Tuesday, morning when he collided with a parked car and his car turned onto its roof.

The incident happened outside Todmorden Police Station and officers immediately administered first aid at the scene.

A crew from Todmorden Fire Station arrived and cut the man out of his blue Peugeot 307 by removing the side of the vehicle.

Paramedics then entered the vehicle to give the man, who was complaining of chest pains, further medical attention.

He was then transferred from the vehicle onto a long board and into a waiting ambulance. He was then driven to Todmorden Cricket fields where he was lifted into an air ambulance and flown to Leeds General Infirmary.

Calder Valley Neighbourhood Policing team said the man remains in a stable condition and thanked the public who assisted and for their patience with the road closures.

A road closure was put in place on the A646 Burnley Road in both directions between the Victoria Road junction and the Stansfield Road junction, whilst the man was treated and the damaged vehicles are recovered. The road was re-opened by 2pm
