Tributes have been paid to a vivacious character who lived life to the full, following the death of Brenda Ford.
The 93-year-old passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on May 5.
Born the eldest daughter of Serena and Clement Whitley in Savile Park, Brenda continued to live in Halifax her whole life apart from a brief spell when the family was relocated for her father’s service as a sergeant major.
Brenda went on to become a keen golfer, travelling the world to play the sport, where she was remembered for promoting Halifax wherever she was.
Another passion of hers was Bridge, which she played at both the Halifax Bridge club and the Halifax ladies Bridge club where she had been president. She was also a board member of the local NSPCC for over 25 years.
She never remarried after outliving her loving husband Irvin Ford - the father of her three children - who sadly passed away in 1975.
Brenda leaves behind daughters Pam and Susie, grandchildren Patsy, Charles and Juliet and twin great grandchildren Amelie and Charlotte, along with her loving sister Barbara.
Brenda’s funearal takes place on Monday at Halifax Minster from 11.30am.
