After a letter was sent out to all the schools in Elland by the Food Bank, Cross Lane Primary immediately set-up a collection and filled two trolleys that were lent to them by Morrison’s.

The goodies will be collected by the Food Bank tomorrow (Thursday) before being distributed to those in need.

The Food Bank, based at the Southgate Centre, has over 150 people registered with it and gives out around 30 bags of food on average every Saturday morning.

It is open every Saturday morning from 10.15am until 11.45am. As well as a bag of food, customers are also offered a warm welcome, refreshments, and a friendly chat.

Any person wishing to access the food bank just needs to come along and register. They will be asked in confidence to explain their circumstances.

The Food Bank offers help to any family or single person living in Elland and the district.
