A popular drama series has been commissioned for a second series – and they’re filming some of it here in Calderdale.
DCI Banks, the ITV1 drama starring Stephen Tompkinson and Andrea Lowe, will return to the small screen in the autumn.
Filming has already begun in Elland, where several TV vans and special effects crews have been working on an explosive set of scenes.
The series is based on the best-selling novels of award-winning international crime writer Peter Robinson and is produced by Left Bank Pictures.
Now, six new hour-long episodes will be filmed, three stories each told over two episodes. The first of those, based on the novel Playing with Fire, is currently being filmed at Cromwell Bottom in Elland.
In the episode, two bodies are found after a fire on a narrow boat, with Banks and DS Annie Cabbot finding themselves on the trail of an arsonist who has killed two people.
The fire on the boat was filmed on Monday afternoon.
Controller of Drama Commissioning Sally Haynes said: “DCI Banks launched really strongly and already feels like a great new addition to our roster of crime dramas.
“We’re looking forward to bringing a full series to ITV1 later this year.”
Scenes from series one were filmed in the Wharf Pub in Sowerby Bridge last May.
The first series, DCI Banks: Aftermath, aired on September 27 and October 4 last year, with each of the one hour episodes scooping an audience of almost 7 million viewers.
